Kodama Experience "YAKU", Yakushima, Kagoshima

gYAKUh is a collaborative project launched on Yakushima Island, Kagoshima, with Frédéric Leyre, experiential Designer-Producer /Photographer /Content Creator /Reiki Healer and founder of the Kodama Project. Yakushima is a World Natural Heritage Site with an ancient deep YAKUSUGI that is over forest over 2,000 years old. This project aims to develop our consciousness through the connections with the natural elements of Yakushima for interactive healing of our wellness. They have commenced fieldwork in the forest, seaside, etc., in Yakushima to record sound and footage for future planned audiovisual works.

The forest serves significant hydro circulation to the air, ocean, and land. Yakushima is a steep mountain rising from the sea, and a deep forest covers the whole mountain. The distance between water and forest is close. Therefore, in the subtropical climate, hydro evaporation and rainfall occur regularly, and the hydro circulation of this island is rapid compared to other islands; the water does not contain many minerals, which generates soft water.
